The Meter Ritual
The meter pour is the traditional way of serving South Indian filter coffee — poured back and forth between a tumbler and davara from about a meter high. The height cools the coffee down to a drinkable temperature, creates that signature frothy top, and mixes the decoction, milk, and sugar properly.
The name comes from the approximate distance, though it's less about exact measurement and more about the technique. A simple yet effective practice that's been part of coffee culture here for generations.
